2012 Middle School Volleyball City Championship
On Wednesday, September 26th the 2012 Middle School Volleyball season ended with the City Championship hosted at Rhodes College. The first game of the night was the Small Division Championship featuring number one seeded and Area 2 League Champion Corry Middle versus number two seeded and Area 1 League Co-Champion Hamilton Middle.
The Lady Eagles of Corry Middle came out strong and defeated Hamilton Middle in 2 games as they collected their second championship in two years. The Outstanding Player of the game for Corry was Ms. Tesia Thompson.
The evening concluded with the Large Division Championship featuring the Area 1 League Champions and number one seed White Station Middle defending their title versus the number two seeded Hickory Ridge Middle. Although Hickory Ridge put up quite a fight in the second set, White Station went on to claim the victory. Ms. Sloan Simpson was named the Outstanding Player of the game.
Ten exceptional players were selected for the All Tournament Team. They were recognized at the end of the evening and presented with their medals. This year’s selection included the following players:

Congratulations to all the teams who participated in this year’s tournament, and especially to back to back champions Corry and White Station Middle!
The final four of this year’s tournament went on to play in the Sectional Qualifying Game on Friday, September 28th for a spot in the West TMSAA Sectional Game.
In the qualifying game Corry defeated Hickory Ridge obtaining a rare opportunity for a team from the Small Division to represent Memphis in the Sectional and White Station defeated Hamilton for their second straight trip to the Sectional.
The West TMSAA Sectional was held in Memphis at Kate Bond Middle School on October 2nd. In the first game White Station was defeated by Brighton finishing their season with a record of 17-2. In the second match up Corry was defeated by last year’s champion Dyersburg finishing their season at 19-2.
